This is a tribute video to my favorite author, George MacDonald, specifically the two books of his which I have read (and love), Lilith and The Princess and the Goblin, and his fairy tale, The Light Princess. I have George MacDonald's complete fairy tales, but The Light Princess is my favorite fairy tale ever, which is why I included it in the video. MacDonald was a Christian Fantasy writer who lived in the 19th century, whose most famous works are his books Lilith, Phantastes (which was the first adult fantasy novel ever written), The Princess and the Goblin, The Princess and Curdie, and At the Back of the North Wind. His most famous fairy tales are The Light Princess, The Golden Key, and The History of Photogen and Nycteris (the fairy tale Photogen and Nycteris is exceedingly awesome). I myself am not Christian, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the beauty and power of his beliefs and writing. I strongly advise everyone to read MacDonald, young and old, men and women. He had a great effect on later Fantasy writers, strongly influencing C. S. Lewis himself (MacDonald was Lewis's hero). The song is "Nell's Cottage" by Tangerine Dream, from the soundtrack to the US version of the film "Legend". Thanks for watching! Enjoy!
P.S-Lona and Vane FOREVER! One of the greatest loves in the history of everything, according to me!

    I retract my statement from two years ago. I have since come to realize that the Harry Potter books are actually quite moving. I am sorry for treating Rowling unjustly.

    @darrenfaber

    to be fair, she started off the harry potter series wonderfully; so mystical and unique and typically english...but then she had to go and ruin it by commercialising them for the sake of the movies...just like everything good in this age. george macdonald was a wonderful man though, bless him and whoever made this video.

    Did someone really have the audacity to even equate George Macdonald with... JK Rowling?

    JK Rowling doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as George. (Hence the ...)

    I was seriously disappointed with The Princess and the Goblin after reading The Golden Key. The Golden Key is really short, but it's beyond incredible. Read it.

    I took a chance and searched my all time favourite author. His fantasies are wonderful but you're missing a few and he did write other stories as well as some great short stories. Btw, you can find him on myspace.
