LORENZO FARRUGIA from Rabat is another Gozitan who made models dressed in Gozitan costume. Wenzu is well worth mentionin as he produced some fine work, Farrugia will be remembered for the creation of group settings. For example, he would use a thin piece of wood as a base for a shepherd and some sheep, a women filling a bucket of water at the well and on the side there would be a 'kenur' (stone stove) with a pot on it. Three of his children inherited this gift from Wenzu: they are Salvu, Karmenu and Rev. Dr. Guzeppi Farrugia. Through the Association Friends of the Crib Gozo-Malta, Wenzu donated seven beautiful figurines to the Museum of the italian Association Friends of the Crib in Rome.......Let us hope that we may cultivate and foster our heritage among our children and among foreingners who are bewitched and fascinated by the simplle beauty embodied in the figurines mad of clay from our small land of Gozo, the Island of sun, dreams and silence.
