  • beautiful song by suraiya... wonderful actress too

  • You are welcome juneg1964 for your appreciation and I also thank you for your good gesture.

  • @yusafvideo Good job thanks for posting

  • Verse 1 - "Zulf" means a curly lock of hair. "Sar karna or sar hona" means to conquer an expedition. "Zulf ka sar hona" means to conquer the expedition of reaching the hair of the beloved or to win the love of the beloved.

Meaning: The lover's sighs do have an effect on the beloved but it requires a very long time. So long that I am not sure that I will be still alive to win your love.

  • Verse 2 - "Kiya rang karoon" means how should I make my heart understand. "Khoone jigar hone tak" means till the liver has bled completely, i.e., till I succeed in love.

Meaning: To win the love of the beloved one needs a lot of patience but my burning desire keeps me disturbed. In these circumstances, how can I satisfy my throbbing heart who longs to meet the beloved right this moment.

  • Verse 3 - I understand that when you come to know of my miserable condition, you will certainly allow me to be in your company. But the problem is that before the news of my precarious condition reaches you, I would have died suffering from the pangs of separation.

  • Verse 4 - Human life is a horrible story of pain and suffering, misery and grief and adverse circumstances. Nobody can cure these afflictions because life is the name of long and successive episodes of sorrow. Death is the only way to end these sufferings. Look at a candle which burns in all situations till it is finished. In the same way, a man may belong to any walk of life, he is bound to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune till his death.

  • Nehru told the singer ( who is also the actor here): Ma'am, with your performance, Ghalib's soul will have come alive!

  • @kathumu

Pt. Nehru?? The author of this poem is Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib!

  • Great singing by Suraiya - singing star. Thanks for making available this beautiful song.
