A trip up the main staircase of Cafe Pho Co, a beautiful cafe in Hanoi, Vietnam. On the first floor is motorbike parking and the kitchen, surrounded by bamboo plants, birdcages, and various ancient knick-knacks. The staircase goes up one flight to a small floating room across a bridge, and continues up to the shrine on the third floor (the doors are closed in this video). From there a winding staircase leads up to one of their main sitting rooms, where Hoan Kiem Lake can be viewed. If you want the REAL view, take one more staircase up to the top floor. What a great sight.
I was born in Saigon South Vietnam and lived there until 1975. Looking over this cafe in Hanoi, I realize how the Northerners are more bound and influenced by Chinese culture than us, Southerners.
South Vietnam was a colony of France until the end of the First Indochinese War.

I guess the only way to expand their business is skyward. It's still nice looking, though packed living space. I am afraid a magnitude earthquake like Haiti can cause lots of casualties.
