Hi there- I am Rick Danko's niece and had the pleasure of seeing him with Bob & The Band at Madison Square Garden for a sold out show, hung out with them at The Plaza Hotel afterwards, I was Rick's driver, door man, I lived with him and Elizabeth in Malibu and Woodstock....the stories I could tell...he was an amazing person, musician and uncle. RIP Rick. I miss you. Cool vid and thanks for sharing! XO

Very Awesome. Beautiful and truthful. I can dig it

One of my favorite bass players. Good video.

Rick Danko was one of the greatest rock singers ever, and he made it to the top of the music industry with his soulful singing. To call him obscure and to compare his singing to daffy duck is just an insult. I don't think he was goofy just a guy who loved to sing.

The Band is by far the greatest group of all time. Ever.

Rick Danko is my favorite too!! Love this "history". I even go back to Ronnie Hawkins - had an album of his, in fact. Yes, I'm old. (LOL). Thanks for making this wonderful video. Judy Dixon Gabaldon. Are you on Facebook?

This was a great bio of Rick, it's nice to know that there are others like me who grew to love his voice and characteristics. Thanks for the work you put into this.

@hippocles I was referring to the album soundtrack not the film soundtrack. It's my understanding from Dennis Hopper that there were some issues with getting a release from Robertson and Grossman so they went with SMITH for the album release. There is a deluxe edition out on CD now that has The Band's version on Disc 2.
The Band are NOT on the original Easy Rider soundtrack. The Weight is performed by a band called SMITH on that album

@Wharfomatic Capital records--for whatever reason--agreed to using the Band's song in the Easy Rider film, but not for release on the soundtrack album. So it IS the Band you hear in the movie, but Smith you hear on the album.

Where in the hell is that video you use of Rick and Bob Dylan singing together on One Too Many Mornings? I need to find it.

@forbiddenwaffles Once upon a time it used to be on YouTube, but I had to pull it from the bonus features of Scorsese's No Direction Home. Be warned that I took the audio of the "Royal Albert Hall" concert and dubbed it over this footage, and both apparently were different performances with slightly different tempos.

@hippocles Arrggh that's awful... I desperately need that version of that song because the one on times they are changin just isn't the same without Rick. What am I gonna do???? >.<

@forbiddenwaffles Oh, well if you just want the song then you can find it in iTunes or Amazon under "The Bootleg Series, Vol. 4: Live 1966 - The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert" The whole album's great, in fact.
