Ok so apparently theres alot of confusion on the storyline. here is the CHRONOLOGICAL order of the events: Halo wars, Halo reach, Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3:ODST, Halo 3. now in order of RELEASE date: Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo Reach. NOW THATS THE TRUTH!!!!!

Halo 2 really had the best feel over all. The soundtrack was amazing. I did find it a little hard to follow (no pun intended) the story since you switched between arby and the chief. But it would have been necessary or else we would have Halo Arbiter.

@SilvaSinner The Arbiter that you play as in halo 2 isn't the same Arbiter that was in Halo: Reach. THAT Arbiter died and (although it was out of free will) all he did was what he was told to... I haven't played Reach all that much though, so I don't know if you are just stupid in bringing an Arbiter up because to my knowledge (which is based off of a few articles on the story and my friend's experience) there isn't an Arbiter in the reach game and there DEFINITELY isn't one in the books.

@kjavina1 Actually Halo Wars is the beginning... But only if you are talking about in order of games, there are books that go back to before the Spartan program (Fall of Reach comes to mind) and some that go back to when the forerunners were prosperous (Halo:Cryptum).

@MrMacSpiffy Bungie stated they had like 4 more levels that they were working on, but the xbox could not handle it. Too bad they didn't make it 2 discs. The campaign would have been twice as long.

@DahPurpleHippo You know, come to think of it, Halo: Arbiter honestly wouldn't have been that bad if they pulled it off right. See things from the Covenant's point of view, you know? First few levels starts you off as the Commander, full rank and privilege, then Halo happens, and he's disgraced. Then 2 could have had more in-depth things with the Chief, and Arbiter could have had the same with the Covenant/Heretic angle.
