SCO to stage joint anti-terrorism exercise in Russia

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization will stage a joint anti-terrorism military exercise in Russia this year.

Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui says issues such as whether state leaders will attend the exercise are still under discussion among SCO members.

The SCO cannot challenge the US or EU at the moment, nor would they want to. The US and Chinese economy are too connected now. 15-20 years from now this mat be different. If the SCO wants war with the US, the US would have many allies. The EU would ally with us, b/c where are the Russians going to invade? Europe. The Canadians (as part of the NATO Alliance), Indians, Japanese, Australians, etc. would also fight with us. Your illusions of grandeur are somewhat premature, don't you think?

It is for a multipolar world to counter against single US dominance, not trying to have two sides build up against each other. The multipolar world is the same reason that the EU is taking in new members and the same reason that India is a observer of the SCO. There were even suggestions from EU members that they should have a single military. Does the EU members uniting to counter US influence mean that they want war also? no not in a multipolar world.

The EU will not want war with the US. If a war were to break out, the EU will not ally with the SCO, they will stay nuetral until their intrests are threatened, i.e. from Russia, from the Middle East.

Not all of India wishes to be part of the SCO. India and China still have many problems between them (border disputes, Tibet, etc.) If the SCO includes Pakistan and Iran, India will definitely not join the SCO. India has a lot of problems with Islamic terrorism.
