But what are you going to do when you run out of juice in the Leaf? Walk a mile and pick up a gallon of amps?

capnthepeafarmer: The Leaf is designed for the average commuter--it's NOT for someone who makes long road trips.

If you make long road trips, then you should get a Toyota Prius, Honda Insight, or Honda Civic Hybrid.

The estimated price for a Volt is $40,000 to $48,000. The starting price for a new Prius is $21,000. The consumers who are interested in "eco" cars are not going to spend $40,000 to $48,000 for a Volt.

You don't know that they won't pay that much for it. It would probably pay for itself in a couple years if you never put gas in it, and people will probably think it has total zero emissions even though we use coal to get the energy for it so they will probably be drawn to it.

I hope it can find its way to take beat with Prius / Insight / LEAF.

It's the EPA estimate I believe. It's not too unbelievable considering the fact that the gas engine is not attached to the wheels at all, which increases efficiency more than 50%.

you know thats all and dandy but i rather give my money to to american workers when it comes to electric vehicles.
they put alot of heart and soul into this car and its seriously fucked up just to blow them off all because the japs have a car with a little more mpg.

You mean the same company that just sucked in millions of bailout money? Tesla is an american company, too, that pays (not eats) taxes. If you don't want a Nissan, fine. But, please don't trot out that "buy American" BS, when Detroit introduced us to "planned obsolesence" and hasn't built quality for years. They've been taking you for a ride for almost a century.

lol yeah that company. you swear gm was the only company struggling. my family and i usually buy german cars. but when people are losing jobs due to people not buy american cars then thats a problem.
ill support the new GM. im curious on how they might turn things around. ill also support telsa and fisker.
if you wanna buy imports fine but dont trot out that 'american cars failed us' bullshit
