@supertrex2 About 70 guys from the 82nd ABN jumped w/ the 75th Ranger Regiment into Afghanistan (known as a "Torch Mission") and the 173rd ABN Brigade jumped into Northern Iraq (with a handful of Air Force CRG guys). SEVERAL special operations teams have made an undetermined number of freefall insertions into both Iraq & Afghanistan as well.

@supertrex2 We used Airborne operations a fair amount in the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003, but it's tapered off since then. It obviously originated in WWII because it's awesome for large conventional wars to penetrate enemy lines, but it's not terribly useful against insurgencies because of the lack of real territorial divisions.

when did they ever use an Army Airdrop? did they even use thios in Iraq war or Afghanistan?
