After Drumcree church service.Portadown orange men prevented from returning home by security services.four days later the British government backed down when there was uproar across ulster. Britain no longer had control of the province, as centres of loyalist resistance sprang up all across the country ,Ulster teetered on the brink.

what a load of ballix. yous loyalists seem to think yous own this province and can do what ever yous like, this is a shared country and therefore all peoples conideraitons must be taken into account. Everyone knows the only reason the loyalists want to march in controversial areas is to intimidate and agrivate nationalist people and to try to show that they can do as the like, You wouldnt catch a catholic st patricks day march trying to march down the shankill, you know why? After the English had finished their genocidal ethnic cleansing of the north of Ireland they had to move in many people from Scotland to live on and work the land. The thing most northerners are unaware of is many of these Scots planters came from blood lines going back to when Ireland Ruled much of Scotland under the Dal Riada a kingdom that influenced most of Scotland. In Fact this is why many Scots can still speak Gaelic. Also the term Scotti means Irishman. So Welcome home my Irish Brethren

@TheTaiginator You have a very jaded historical perspective.
Studying Irish History at degree level, I can tell you with absolute authority that there was indeed a Catholic community in Northern Ireland prior to 1921.
In fact, step out of your house. Look at the Catholic Churches and Cathedrals - many of which are hundreds of years old. These buildings certainly weren't erected for the Protestant population.
Educate yourself, for the love of God!

@LordWellington15 - Listen, your lordship, Ulster is ireland's oldest c olony so how could it NOT be part of Ireland's green and pleasant land? Politically, the north is part of - not britain - but UNITED KINGDOM.
Spot the geographical difference. Oh, lordy!

The Orange Order isn't anti-Catholic! All the members either live beside RC's, they work with RC's, they are friends with or have RC relations etc. The Order are Protestant/Christians the bible tells us to love one and other, and treat each-other as equals. In border areas on the 12th the Catholics minded the farm for local Protestants....there was good relationships.
But Prods do have issue with the mass and therefore on religious reasons don't accept the RC Church or the mass.
