(UPDATED: Johann Hari returned his Orwell Prize in September 2011, which would have been revoked by the Council of the Orwell Prize in any case.)

An exclusive interview with Johann Hari, winner of the Orwell Prize for Journalism 2008. Johann talks to Albert Scardino (Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, judge of the Orwell Prize 2008, member of the Media Standards Trust board) about his journalism, his awareness of language and Gordon Brown's hero, James Maxton. • I love Johann's columns in the Independent.

  • Hari is a great talent and I would love to see him with his own show.

  • @yeorange Surely you mean that the writers that Johann Hari plagiarises are the best columnists in the UK?

  • Such a shame he's been found out as a plagiarising, quote-fabricating, note-stealing, charity-worker-obstructing, sock-puppeteering, Wikipedia-altering tosser!

  • @OurWorldReport

Haha good one :). Try his older brother.

  • This fraud Johann Harri can write an article and conduct an interview by just reading the books behind him and coping quotes from them. Shame on him. We will not be fooled by this idiot again.

  • @OurWorldReport

    i think its Christopher hitchens

  • @omegavalerius Not being from the UK I had no idea who Hitchens is. However, I did a bit of research and read a blog post by Peter Hitchens. Is that who you were referring to? Having only read a single post (long though it was), I won't try to do a critique of Mr. Hitchens, except to say that based on what I read, Mr. Hari seems to say things in a simpler and more direct way. I like that about him.

  • @OurWorldReport

Perhaps a new Hitchens in the making? Independent thinkers, leftist in youth, rational and yes big cajones

  • I must tell you all, that Johann has been gaining popularity in the progressive culture abroad also. He is such a bright young man with some big cajones to speak truth to power.

  • Johann is quite possibly the best columnist in the UK at the moment

  • love the george monbiot mention
