Ignore the lame commentary, I was very excited about running up and running it around for the first time. It took forever to scratch build to this point with the gear reduction system.

  • No, still not finished. Even though I started this project 5 or 6 years ago, I only have about 18months work in it. I am very close to starting to cover and finish it.

  • It'll be impressive when finished but personally I'd not go running engines in uncovered airframes, I can't imagine the oil from the exhaust will make the covering any easier. Keep up the good work, let's see her flying!

  • Well, the gas engines do not spit that much out. I will probably take some 4" wide masking tape and cover back to the cockpit. I need about 5-7 good days working on it to finish it.

  • what does blade reduction do?

  • It lets me swing a much larger prop. This 31" prop is scale according to the 3 view drawings I have. It is 24 pitch and only turns 2,900 rpms

  • Any movement on the build?

  • The P6-E HAWK has to be the best looking bi-plane EVER. I had a BARRON plans scratch built several years ago. but it's gone now; however I now have a gerat planes arf still in the box, to be built soon. I would love it if you could keep me informed of your progress. Thanks( ablesrc@yahoo.com)

  • "if you bite off more than you chew learn swallow bigger pieces"

    F&A right, thanks bud

  • Doing a rough aerodynamic calculation it looks doubtful that it flies in that configuration but cabin air circulation is certainly no problem. A very impressive project to this point. Nice work.

And no, working metal is actually easy if you have the tools and equipment.

  • That looks alot like a belt reduction not gear

  • have you finished it?????

  • I like your analogy lol

  • Don't you mean belt reduction????????

  • I've flown petrol engined models myself, they may not be as oily as a nitro engines but they still spit out some nasty stuff which doesn't do any favours for glue or covering adhesives. I fly mainly electric now. Anyway, it's PahtreekM's model and his call as to whether he runs it uncovered. I'm looking forward to the maiden video, it should look and sound great!
