@ph1lo I agree with your logic to a certain extent but the fight or flight mode can only be found once a person has reached a certain point in their lives personally I dont think this guy is ready to fight a baked potato let alone benzo withdrawls so his case should be handled with caution and he should be tapering off this evil drug, NEVER COLD TURKEY BENZOS PEOPLE IT CAN KILL YOU.

@findittobeamusing stop being silly alcohol totally destroys the withdrawl process as it creates an additional influx of benzo in the brain thus making the user think they have had twice as much then when the alcohol wears off it causes anxiety therefore tempting the use to increase benzo dose or to simply drink more alcohol which will just carry on this vicous circle, I used to think same at one point but trust me as hard as it is stay clear of alcohol when withdrawing from benzos!

Im on 30mg in the morning and 30 mg at night and its a fucking wonder drug.....you need to come off it slowly and get pissed most days.

there are those who will tell you not to quit cold turkey. agreed, it is better to step down. but that might not be possible if your doc has cut you off. getting a bar here and there is one thing.  getting a steady supply to detox on is another, especially when you mind is shot as yours will be for a few weeks. GOOD LUCK...keep us posted. one more thing - the longest lasting symptoms for me were jerks and the speech thing. they too will pass.
