Unpacking it and its all in plastic!
We buy something, it goes into plastic, we haven't really questioned it until lately. It is questioned now because it has been highlighted.
Because of the nature of plastic bags, by this I mean that they float on air and in water, it is difficult to keep control of them when they are discarded. Many of the bags we see hanging like strange fruit from tree's and blowing along our roadsides is usually non intentional rubbish. Most of the bags found polluting the oceans is non intention.
It will take a major change in attitude to really make a difference to the devastating and crippling effect plastic bags have on wildlife, the environment and the aesthetics of our countryside, towns and cities.
The major change needs to come from education and the big supermarkets. The staff need to be trained and educated to discourage the use of bags, to think what they are contributing to and the supermarket bosses need to make a decision to stop using them altogether.
