Part of my experience at Chitwan Royal National Park in Nepal. The safaris were conducted on elephant top (these are Asian elephants, which are way smaller than African ones).
You arrive at Chitwan by canoe, which is an interesting experience since the park is well known for its large crocodile species. The Marsh Mugger grows up to 12ft (4m) and the Gharial up to 18ft (6m). Unfortunately, we only got to see one croc.
We did not see any Bengal Tigers, but Chitwan's tiger population is on the rise. The tigers roam freely and have attacked humans in the area in several occasions, including an attack in our loading area. We did spot a tiger pug print, and the inside of the print was as wide as two of my palms. I am not so sure I wanted a wildlife encounter with such an animal on top of such a small elephant.
What we did see was lots of Chitwan's most aggressive animal, the Asian one-horned Rhino. These things were not friendly, and they were everywhere! There is no love lost between the Elephants and Rhinos. As you can see around minute 6:00, our Elephant started harassing a Rhino by throwing water and branches at him.
We did get to see a lot of other animals, including wild hogs, striped hyenas and a variety of monkeys, cranes and eagles.
where in Wisconsin is this?
