@Hooverdarnit Well, I'm not sure, would I rather spend time with a god who created me for the specific purpose of worshiping him and stroking his ego or a devil who hates me but is at least honest about it. I don't fear my parents, because they don't say that they will kill me if I don't worship them. That and I know my parents are real and not just imaginary.

As you live and breath now, it's your choice. Once you die, there is no reprieve, no appeal and no changing your mind.

As for fearing God, it's the same kind of "natural fear" a child has for a parent. A loving parent will rebuke a rebellious child for - the child's sake.

@Hooverdarnit I don't see myself as equal to god, because I don't believe that it is real. The problem I have is that all I hear from this god is "fear me, worship me, fear me, worship me" and to be completely honest with you, I would not classify that as any kind of friendly omnipotent being, but a ruthless cruel bully who thinks he can intimidate people into doing what he says, and I sure as hell wouldn't want to spend all of eternity with someone like that, would you?

@GarthAbaddon I used to think the same way you do. The problem is, atheist see themselves to be equal to God and therefore refuse to fear any punishment.

Not believing in God or his just punishment, is no defense. The Bible says, "Many are called, but few are chosen." Also it says, "Straight and narrow is the path that leads to salvation, but few will find it."

Here's another Bible verse: "Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man."

@Hooverdarnit So, this god that loves us all wants us to fear him or he will kill us, sounds like a terrorist to me. But seriously, would you expect an omnipotent entity to punish people for looking at the evidence critically and logically and coming to the intelligent conclusion that it does not exist, I mean, that seems to be what this being is trying to do, make people not believe in it so it can kill us all.

@Hooverdarnit You know, that's kind of interesting, because I am sure that I heard from several people who are a part of your religeon that there is an afterlife for everyone, that the soul is eternal and can't die. Besides that, as I have seen no evidence whatsoever for me to believe in any of this crap the only reason presented to me for me to believe is fear of the consequences for being wrong and I don't think that any omnipotent being would actually reward people for belief out of fear.

@GarthAbaddon You are partially right. There is no afterlife FOR YOU. And You have no God. And the time will come when you will no longer have a soul. because it will be dead. Unfortuately, you will know what a huge mustake you have made in this world that will doom you to eternal damnation.

When you die, all hope is lost. While you are still alive, you should correct your mistakes while you still can.
