this is a stupid question but do females sing?

That is one of the sweetest things I have ever seen.

Nice video..i love to hear them. i see Goldfinches everyday in my garden eating the nijer seed that i provide. Ive contacted 'DEFRA' to see about owning a pair, its illegal to keep British birds here as pets without permision...
Thanks for posting.

Not a stupid question - Female European Goldfinches do sing but not as well as males. Canary females do not sing but instead chirp like a cricket (my opinion). Some claim to have heard female canaries sing but never in my experience. If you want to buy a singing canary, make sure you hear it sing before you bring it home, or you're likely to end up with a non-singing female.

Wouldn't the poop be a problem? I have an avairy and have to clean it 3 times a week or the poop takes over.
Are your birds toilet trained or something? If so, I wonder if I could train mine. Never mind will keep with hosing it out.

The birds are only allowed in this room for brief periods of time (10-15 min.) and then they are "herded" back into their adjoining room where they retreat inside their cages or on top where there is a pan to catch the poop. It does take extra work cleaning up behind them, but it is worth it to see them fly around and enjoy their freedom. They also become more tame, used to people close by, and I think they are healthier.

I bought my E. Goldfinches at the Jacksonville, FL bird show from a breeder in the Tampa area. You would probably do best to google the internet to find finch bird breeders who have them since they are not real common.

No, I said "several" years old but unfortunately, he passed away recently from unknown causes.
