This truly AWESOME shmup from Japan was presented originally back in 1996 for MS-Windows 95 by Sprite as "ZugyA". Since then, Chinchilla Softhouse eventually re-released this game as freeware in 2005, this time known as "ZugyA DX", with fully-enhanced graphics and all of the same great playability as the original!!!

The premise of the game will remind players of the Namco 1981 arcade game called Bosconian, but with MUCH more fun than ever before — *especially* when you activate your special and fully charged plasma attack on the bases to really get this party started!!! :D

In part 1 of my full NO-MISS run of all 50 stages, the first nine (9) stages are presented, showing you also how to pin-point the flashing targets on the radar (which is located on the lower-right side of the screen) and destroy them in sequence for even bigger and bigger scores!!! \(^-^)/

To get this most splendidly updated game, it is currently available at this web address:

...and please do not miss this video, as you will *surely* learn something from this one!!! ;) !

  • whats a shmup? P.s. i'm only 12 yrs old so plz dont hate me :D

  • PIEDol, I would be quite happy to tell you. ^-^ !

A shmup is simply a term used for "Shoot 'em up". You know, like Galaga, Gradius, R-Type, Raiden, that sort of thing!

    Just so you know. :D

  • NEEDS A GBA PORT. :O

Awesome game... I need to try it out. It looks like Thunder Force II, except done RIGHT.

  • While I have never played Thunder Force II at all, zweihand, I must say that ZugyA DX is done so much better indeed, plus it simply has some of THE DAMN BEST fun you will ever have here, you know? Definitely one of my sheer favorites, let me tell you right now!!! :D !!

  • I fucking love this game. You can boost everywhere and you're nearly untouchable with that bomb (which has graphics taken from Recca I think). Good find!

  • ZeetherKID77, the charged boost is rather the main attraction of an awesome feature indeed that sure made ZugyA DX so *splendidly* excellent and then some!!! I mean, this kind of magic just makes going through all 50 stages COMPLETELY enjoyable to play without getting bored at all, I gotta say!!! ^_- !!

As for the booster graphics, they were borrowed from Naxat Soft's Recca indeed, so you are absolutely correct right there. :D

  • oooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thank YOU really appreciated

  • Played it, the farthest I've made it so far is stage 50-something, and goddamn, it's addicting. Needs a (probably unauthorized) GBA, DS, or PSP port BADLY.

  • I seem to have missed this Shmup, where does it come from?

  • Yep. ^-^ The music is EXCELLENT, even where MIDI musics in games were concerned, and I gotta agree with you!!

Thank you so much on your comment, and this video is part of a full 50-stage no-miss run of ZugyA DX from me, GerkIIDX, so just keep watching as I am currently uploading a series of videos on YouTube based on this, got that now? :D
