Leonard Cohen must have laughed himself silly when he realised that his song about orgasm was going to be a Chirstmas number one hit.

Right on as ever, Mitch!
Though personally, I think they should have left "When You Believe" alone as well. Am very attached to the original version of that, from the film "The Prince of Egypt" (before Mariah Carey got her hands on it)

@thedoctorTARDIS ever heard of pragmatics??
-
@thedoctorTARDIS how can you be so sure about that? The best references are ambiguous!
-
it refers to god moving among the people.
-
@aModernDandy ITS ABOUT GOD! there are no sex references.
-
this is great, way to many covers of that song.

Poor Jeff Buckley to leave us all so young. Poor Leonard Cohen? It quite definitley is a song about orgasm. As is in, "from your lips drew she drew the"Halleluja " Good luck to him I say. He is quite a lot older than me but on another planet for vitality. And he really must have laughhed dimelf siily when he realised that his anthem to orgasm was going to eb a Xmas No.1,

@bareakon yes I suppose that's in it as well. I think it's essentially about a flawed relationship, and the woman is compared to Delilah, so she's probably quite cruel to her partner. But that one line I mentioned sounds like a description of sex, which is after all also part of relationships.

wha about all those references to, like, samson and delilah and that?
-
@pansykiller "remember when I moved in you and the holy god was moving too, and every breath we drew was hallelujah" sounds pretty orgasmic to me!
It really does say it all. Thanks for posting.
