A summary of Nora's Tango WeekEnd, day 1, session 2, beginner track.
Demonstration of the basic sequence and several possibilities for additional steps within basic, mostly from the cross.
Position:
- Feet always point a little bit out. This assures firm stance when feet are together and in turns.
- Always have knees together when extending one foot forward while having the weight on the back foot (parada, sandwiches).
Exercises:
- Step forward, step forward, back foot placed in front as if for a step, but then circles back, making a "T" with the weight foot, the weight changes to the back foot, and the same circle is done with the front foot.
- Same on going back: step, step, circle-to-T, circle-to-T.
- Two steps forward, weight on the back foot (knees together, and turn 180 degrees while keeping the feet in place and knees together).
8-count basic:
- The basic itself.
- Basic, but after the cross the man leads the lady to take a forward step with the right foot, then leads the lady's left foot forward to position into the cross in front of the right leg (this involves stopping the step in the middle and turning the chest), and then the rest of the basic.
- Same as the previous variation, but the man makes a T as the lady reaches the cross.
- Using cross-stepping from step 3.
