From 1939 to 1944, 53 of the 12 inch Blue Note series of jazz recordings were produced. At that time, this music was considered avant-garde and these records were made in relatively small numbers to accomodate that audience. Today, they are highly prized by jazz afficiandos. As such, these have been reissued in many forms over the years.
This offering is one of those original 53 records produced, James P Johnson performng Blue Mizz. There is something out of wack with this record and I had to "help" it along at the beginning, otherwise, it would have jumped all over the place. Turned out pretty good, I think. Enjoy!
You're a hero, cdbpdx!! Thanks for this magnificent gift!!
