The money shot! IAIS 156, 721 and 503 lead what looks to be an extra ethanol train, west through Morris, IL. on the CSXT New Rock Subdivision. Taken from the Route 47 overpass. I'm guessing that this is most likely an X RIBI, or somewhere along that line. I've wanted this shot for a long time, but the IAIS never ran a westbound at the right time through town. BICB, another westbound IAIS train, made a very rare daylight appearance as well today.

  • Yep that is a money shot. I got a CSX there once.

  • the old classics were what made it fun the variety of rare sometimes practicly obsolete power paint schemes and horns and railroads they are now owned by. but now all ya see are SD70MACS GEVOS and SD70ACEs. yeah the econmy is bad. standerdinization sucks,

  • how could they put SD60MS in to storage ???? there strong 6 axel EMDs !!!!!

  • With the economy the way it is, it's pretty unsure what will happen to anything. The old stuff is just sidelined for the time being until business picks up.

I wouldn't stop railfanning, though. As long as there's a train nearby...that's good enough for me. :-)

  • come on. i dont think they will. I HOPE THEY DO!!! but im unsure that they will. i just hope that they leave the leslies and K3LAS alone on them. i see the pity palce at Murray yard at the back end every time we go by. ive heard some old BNSF classics might be up for sale. even some of the last 50 Oakways are in storage in Lincoln nebraska. pretty soon i may just stop railfanning. its just not fun anymore. do you agree? what do you think about all of this?

  • Yeah. I heard that the SD40-2's will be returning as well.

  • id say the SD60Ms have a better chance of being used again the the GP60BS.

  • I'd like to. Hopefully, the SD60M's and GP60B's come back into service once the economy picks up.

  • Thanks, Matt!

Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. I was just taking a trip to try to see some EJ&E and then I got word of a westbound Iowa.

  • Your Welcome Nic.

So are you going to take a trip to corwith to see the stored SD60MS and GP60Bs?
