Call your congressman and tell them you support -- The Better Use of Light Bulbs Act, better known as the BULB Act
If you want to enjoy actual lasting lightbulbs- The Incandescent Lightbulb!
Because otherwise they are being legislated out of existence.
The lie about the life of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL's)
And what they don't tell you! Don't tell me your concerned about the enviornment GE and GV and other makers. Because you make a bulb that will have a life span of possibly 5+ years with a ballast that only last hardly a year! What a load of shit! If the environmentalist are so concerned about energy they should A. make the company make a ballast with the life span of the bulb. Which will reduce the "waste" of energy producing the bulb, and will eliminate a large amount of energy spent recycling these. B. companies need to stop lying on packages saying the bulb last 3-4 + years or listed hours when they do not!

  • the bulbs will last forever as long as they are not cracked. the shitty electronics are the part that junks out, theres like a little ocillator transistor system thats running house current through it which is so dumb to beggin with. ive seen it in my room when they burn out. if they listen to tesla, he made a cold cathode florecent light that was many times more efficient than any light source man has made and would last forever till someone dropped it by accident or on purpose! lol.

  • lol dang it you already mentioned what i was gonna say!! I convert all my ones that are "burned out" with a base like a neon lamp or otherwise called cold cathode. Ive converted two successfully but im having a problem getting them really bright. I mean it gives off plenty of light but Im trying to get it brighter.

  • @spunright Oh my God I threw mine out with the garbage last week and S.W.A.T. just busted down my door and arrested me and my family!

  • @jackaltv Either you are very lucky or you are lying or you do not really know what a cfl is. Everyone I ask had the same experience as myself, They didn't last but about one year.

  • How can anyone think this is such a good idea that the long-standing alternative will be banned by 2012. CFLs are a conspiracy. I'll stock up on incandescents, while I have the chance. Also, the LED light strands we bought for Christmas 09 already have a burned out section after Christmas 10...and for this "energy saving" we paid 3x. Where is energy savings? We paid $12 for a strand of lights that we used to pay $4, to run some lights a few hours a night, for maybe a month? LED is no better.

  • I am so angry about the $ I've spent on CFLs. Was I supposed to make a house map of where every bulb went and keep a file of receipts so I could return them when claims weren't met? Most of these bulbs are burning out after a receipt would even be valid for return, but WAY before the 3-4 yr claim. We just remodeled a bathroom in 9/10 and as of 1/11, we've already replaced 2 of the 4 new CFLs! I am shaking my head that this $4 bulb didn't even last a few months! Lobbyists and policitians?

  • Having tired of replacing incandescents after 3 months, I switched to CFL's over ten years ago. With the exception of "Lights Of America" brand, I have never had one fail yet.

  • I've replaced every incandescent light bulb that I had with CFT's and have had no problem with them. It's been 3 years.

  • I replaced them in my house and they don't last. The soft white versions are dim for the same wattage compared with incandescent. They say it's illegal to throw them away so have to hunt for a recycler. They'll be added costs because of these things to certify a house is free of mercury. I'm going back to the Edison lamps as each of these fail.

  • awesome man!! please put up video, i would love to see them!! yea thats sweet, i was asking you about the TV tubes because i want to build my own one day, like putting a sensitive material like potassium hydride in a glass tube(what zyworkin used, maker of the tv) and then have the electron beam scan, i would love an iconoscope but they cost so much, i got a videocon tube which is awesome to have but i dont have the pin layout for the electron gun and sensor pins. thanks alot man!
