@de31168 you are correct he was sponsered b coke but someone said in 1996 he got caught drinking a pepsi on camera.

dude you do not understand how long ive been lookin for this race...terry labonte was my all-time favorite racer growin up & this has to be my favorite racin moment in ever...lol...thanks for postin this race...PS: GO HMS!!!

@de31168 Yep, I remember seeing the Coke logo on his car and thinking "damn, I prefer Pepsi"... he then subsequently showed up at Daytona with Pepsi sponsorship, and a classic Pepsi commercial. The two have been paired ever since.

did atlanta motor speedway used to have a long front stretch? did they repave the track? it looks a lot different from today.

@FlexaySexay The current back straight was the old front straight. They turned the backstretch into a double dog leg like charlotte and texas and moved the start finish line.

Gordon in a Coke commercial... interesting.
This is one of my all time favourite moments in NASCAR, what with Labonte winning the race, and the other Labonte winning the title. Thanks again for sharing!

@kornnut43 In 95-96 he was sponsored by coke. I used to collect racing champions diecast cars and they released 2 versions.. the first one and then a second one with coca-cola across the decklid. I believe Pepsi picked him up in 97 or 98.
