clearly this isn't a professional production...it is a college production with some very talented singers. And as for pitch problems, I surmise that the emotional content of the scene is causing slight discrepancies in the performances. The girl playing Maria sounds like she is crying a little bit.

The blocking is way too staged. Anita is decent, though. Can't hear Maria.

I agree, there are some definite pitch problems, and this seems very mis-directed. Maria definitely seems too whiney and the blocking looks really staged.

Where are the consonants in Maria's singing? And the cop is playaing the scene like he is on One Life To Live.

I blame the director - all very talented but misdirected.
