@hailmary7283 I've dated my share of "dumb asses," but they were usually very caring, considerate people. As I said, there are many things that attract us to others. Sometimes, just feeling good about yourself and life when you're with someone is enough.

@YY4Me133 yea yea i'm not disagreeing with the fact there are lots and lots of variables for some people. I just feel intelligence tends to be pretty low on that list. and for you I was clearly wrong you seem like an intelligent person who actually does care about the intelligence of your partner. Many women i know say they care about intelligence and date dumb asses.

@hailmary7283 I'm suggesting that, when you see a "mismatched" couple, you have no idea what motivated the woman to be with that man. It could be his sense of humor, his looks, his income, his honesty, his intelligence, etc. In any event, intelligence is subjective. There are people who think William Lane Craig is intelligent. I think he's a moron. I think Christopher Hitchens was intelligent, but disagreed with his politics, which is important to me. There are so many variables...

@YY4Me133 I'm not saying that appearance is all that matters. What I'm saying is that intelligence does not seem to be a turn on for most women. Because I rarely see a women more attracted to a guy after seeing that he is smart. I would agree a guy being a dumb ass is a turnoff but I don't think intelligence is a turn on.

@hailmary7283 Haven't you ever seen what you consider an attractive woman with an unattractive man and wondered what she's doing with him? If so, you're aware that women often choose men for reasons other than their appearance, which is what I think you were getting at. People, women and men, are attracted to all sorts of things, and "bad" characteristics can cancel out "good" ones. It's about the whole package, not just one thing.

@YY4Me133 Fair enough I can't see inside your head. But when I look around my life and look at the smartest guys I know, they aren't exactly getting loads of women. And when I look at most of the women in my life they never talk about how they are so turned on by guys who have intelligent discussions. It's just one of those things women say they are attracted to but their actions are often different.
