Thats not 100% true as they fix it that some maybe most games run at the right speed.

On that first boss you can get by him easy by just constantly using the charge (arrow like) attack. Also dont forget you can kick as well as punch!
This was the only game I had when I first bought my MD back in 91/92. I think I went 5 months without another game and loved this to bits ended up being able to complete it without taking a single hits. Those were the days!

Such memories from this game! Me and mate went up to a local importer in sunderland (ran form his mams house) back in 1989. His mam gave him money to buy a Jap MD and game- the game was altered beast. He was "supposed" to give it straight to her (Christmas Present) but sneaked it to his bedroom and completed the game in one go. Then gave his mam the console and game! Lol. Happy memories. "Rise from your grave" & "Welcome to your doom"- both etched on my mind!! Great Vid :D

Altered Beast was ahead of its time. Very challenging but also rewarding.

This is classic!.
Still have the game in perfect condition and its one of the games that i always play after the "cleanup period" where i unbox all my collection for...cleanup and testing ^^.
