The debate on whether using a cell phone to talk or Worse, TEXT continues to go on. The "Majority" of people believe (facts bear out) that using a cell phone is one of the worst distractions while driving. Accident details over the last couple of years has shown a dramatic increase in the number of deaths due to "Head-On" crashes and single car accidents due to running off the road either rolling or striking a tree.

Very detailed studies show that Texting while driving equates equally to a person who is 2 1/2 times over the legal limit for alcohol. Quite a high number of these same people when asked after the drive test said they thought they did "Excellent".. Upon being shown the video of their driving immediately excuses were offered for the bad performance.. none included the device in their hands.

So - with evidence clearly presented the majority of those believing they did Excellent were as STUPID as someone who had actually been drinking and swearing THEY were also "Just Fine" to drive. While I'm not an expert by any means I have experienced this phenomenon first hand. A distracted driver on a cell phone plowed into the back of my car as I was sitting at a red light. The last 2 seconds I saw him in the rear view with a phone stuck to his head.. talking and looking down and over .. he had ZERO Attention to the road. I was injured and continue to suffer the effects of that accident - 3 years ago. I will need surgery on my neck to correct the damage... I'm lucky., my wife and stepson were ok. Other people are NOT lucky and are just flat out killed.

What causes people to think they can do this when "EVERYTHING" goes against this belief? Evidence, accident details.. all of it shows that people are NOT capable of "Multi-Tasking" when it comes to SAFE driving no matter WHAT they say..Why do they believe they are "Special"? This is the overwhelming thought process, somehow THEY are NOT like everyone else.. they're able to talk, text or put on makeup just fine and not believe they pose a danger to anyone. How do we wake these people up before more innocent lives are lost due to their STUPIDITY!! I'd Love to know.. that is.. anything short of shooting these people or running THEM off the road before they kill someone else. Understand.. if someone sideswipes me and they have a phone in their ear or looking down texting... I'm gonna take them OFF the road by any means necessary at that point...

  • Ok people, here's the real deal. Idiots die every day even when they don't use cell phones. They'll find something else to distract them, they'll talk to friends in the back seat, they'll fall asleep at the wheel. etc

This whole no texting campaign is for what's coming next. For your safety, of course, your gov will install cell jammers in the car for starts. Then comes the speed limit, then comes dash cameras, then comes carbon tax for how much you drive. Etc. This is the foot in the door.

  • @bweazel Let me guess. YOU are one of these MORONS that Text and drive? Your whole arguement is bullshit.

  • The man who rammed into the back of my car was fine, his air bag saved him. My cadillac (2001) did help save our lives because they are built so well, but still, he hit us going 40mph. I will end up having to finally resort to surgery on my neck even though I've resisted it. I have nerve damage down both my arms -go numb. The guy was just talking and distracted. Texting actually takes over a part of your brain that conversation does NOT. You cannot multi-task when this are of the brain is used.

  • nasty scare tactics that dont work, horrible vid, thumbs down

  • @XxFlairexX UH.. NOT Scare tactics. It is a SCIENTIFIC FACT that people who text are actually MORE than 2 times impaired than legally drunk. Anyone, ANYONE that believes they can do this without serious implications at one time or another.. is A MORON.. With a Capital M planted on their foreheads. I was RAMMED by a JERK just TALKING on his cell phone looking for some papers in his truck. That was 3 years ago and I'm STILL recovering from my injuries. Dont tell me its scare tactics.

  • Should be required viewing for all driver's Ed. classes! Thanks for posting this Swabbie.

I was in a car accident not long ago too: 9 months pregnant and trapped in my car with my three-year old. The guys in one of the other cars and some witnesses pulled me out. The girl who caused the accident stopped, looked at the wreck she caused and sped away.

  • @3monkeysmomma I'm GLAD you got out of it ok! They they ever catch the stupid girl who did it? You'd think they would be able to track her down?

  • HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Request not to text and drive or talk on the phone while driving is here by denied.

  • Yeah, I once text and drove at the same time and nothing happened. Everyone and their mother thinks they know how to text and drive, but so few people actually know how. The people in this video obviously did not know how. Also, the Corps beats the Seals any day of the weak, along with everything else compared to the Navy. TROLOLOLOLOLO

  • mmmmwhatcha sayyyyy

  • ** involved in a crash. furthurmore if you think you can drive a car, be in full control of it and be immune from making an error, then clearly, you do need to be told how to drive because standards slip massively after time it's more a stroke of luck that you havent had an collision - if after all, you take your eyes off the road in full belief that the world f*****g pauses when you do so and nothing can develop on the road in that time.

  • @bweazel. you say you "make sure no jack asses are going to slam on their 'brakes', then go back to typing". it doesnt matter if someone slams on their brakes, if you pay attention to the road and are a competent driver you will not hit them. you need all your concentration on the road when driving because you are extremely vulnerable in a car. people have got to stop thinking they are invincible in a car, even with a sealtbelt and all the airbags you could still get seriously harmed if **

  • i saw something like this an a t.v. series.."1,000 Ways To Die" a gf/bf having an "txt argument" he was driving and she was walking. neither one paying attention of what was going on around them. while txting/driving he ran into his girlfriend, and well you guessed it she died as a result. it is very unfortunate that people like these are the cause of current gov. regs.

  • @TheSwabbie And seriously, what a dumb video. THREE people in a car, and not a single one of them noticed the girl driving into oncoming traffic for a good 5 seconds. Ya. Morons. If you have three people in a car, and not a single one of them have their eyes on the road, ya, they deserve to get in a wreck. Shitty thing, you can't control who they run into, and that sucks, but outlawing something from everyone because idiots exist in the world? Get over it, and get over yourself. Accidents happen

  • @TheSwabbie My argument is not bullshit. People kill people by falling asleep in cars, what the hell do you want to do? Mandate naps for everyone? Haha, yes, please, let's coddle this immature society a little more. I'm a grown adult, I don't need to be told how to drive, I don't need to be told to where a seat belt, etc. What's your argument? You had some bad luck and had a run in with a moron? Ohh booo hooo. Chalk it up to bad luck man, we all meet some idiots. I just met you. See? ;)

  • @TheSwabbie Sure, I text and drive. Because I'm not a moron. I type a couple letters, look back up, type another couple letters, look back up, stop at a stop light, type type type, look up, start moving again, wait a second until everyone gets in their flow make sure no jack asses are going to slam on their breaks, then back to typing. Really. Not that hard.

As for being so intent in a text message that I would drive into oncoming traffic, no. Anyone that would do that is an idiot. Sorry.
