As a delivery system for accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI), the SAVI™ applicator combines the tissue-sparing dosimetry of interstitial brachytherapy with the single-entry ease of balloon brachytherapy. This hybrid approach is designed to maximize ease of use during placement, while providing more flexibility in the delivery of the radiation dose.

With its ability to contour the radiation dose, the SAVI applicator allows physicians to treat patients who otherwise would have been eliminated as candidates for APBI. The SAVI applicator's unique design extends the benefits of breast brachytherapy to a larger number of women.

  • I had this done yesterday and start radiation in 2 days. I had no issues with it, and in 5 days i'll be done treatment, compared to 6 weeks of standard radiation. :) I was glad I was a candidate for it.

  • OMG, this procedures looks most unpleasant. I think I would rather have whole breast external radiation instead.
