Mac Vs PC: Vista dowgrade (Podium)

I wish microsoft would stop "just adding on" and actually make some real changes like linux and Mac.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 come with the same problem.
Cheap, pain in the ass to change hardware.
Example:
My Vista ran most N64 games at 20 FPS, so I thought about changing the default GFX card to NVidia. Turns out, SiSMirage3 spammed my damn system with so much shitty software, that it was rendered near impossible to change! Windows 7 pulls that same crap, and even still uses SiSMirage3 as home edition standard!
I will rip my hair out if I need to ever use SiSMirage data again in my life.
