using a led as a photo diode. The LED I'm using is a bright white led. in normal environment the led produces about 40mV. In darkness (light blocked by my hand) almost none. With a light source 100mV.

Voltmeter resistance about 1MOhm? Photo-current about 40mV/1Mohm = 40 nA?

When you use an LED as a photodiode, does it actually produce a small voltage, or does it simply decrease in resistance?
I have never known this, and would appreciate any help! Thanks

that is a great thing. I am gonna try using it in my projects and see if it can be used in place of the real photodiode.
