Twenty minutes north of downtown Colorado Springs lies La Foret. Originally Alice Bemis Taylor's vacation compound and now a conference and retreat center that hosts the annual MeadowGrass music festival.

I lived in Black Forest for several years and visited La Foret a number of times. Got cut off from the gliderport by a storm and had to land in the meadow there. Sure was nice to have that big, open area for emergencies.
