It is Brandt who calls him Brigadier-General (an American rank). The English agent refers to him as General.

Part 2 is labelled 007

Bye Bye Yvette remember the shock of this episode on its first tansmission.
-
Brigadier General was abolished in 1922 from the British Army (and Markham is playing a British officer) to be absolutely clear.
-
Markham was playing a British officer, so my original criticism stands. I did two tours in Bosnia and ended my RAF service in Iraq if we are into medal rattling. I stated that Brigadier General did not exist in WW2 so I respectfully suggest you re-read my comments a little more closely to avoid you being further misinformed.
-
You are misinformed. I served in WWII. The French army suspended the rank from 1921 because of the confusion with the non-commissioned rank - brigadier-chef - they renamed the latter in 1927. Brigadier-General - 1 star for our American cousins has always been in the British Army and always will be. A Brigadier-General normally commands 5 or 6 battaliions - around 3,000 men. Look at the Falkland War and Brigadier Thompson leading the Marines if you're still confused.

Don't want to be picky but the rank Brigadier-GENERAL did not exist in the British Army after WW1. Markham has the rank of Brigadier, which was no longer a General rank. Apart from that what a great series!!
Where is part 2?
