If a giant panda, raccoon, red fox, beaver, coyote, black footed ferret, and so many other animals (too many to name ) all said to me to come with them I would go I don' know were would a skunk or a grizzly bear might take me But maybe you do. Where do you think we might end up? I would do the same for a binturong too.

Well, Shelby wouldn't cuddle except for when he was a baby. He was affectionate, but with claws and teeth, if you can imagine. He was a bit rough, so I would wear long sleeves or a jacket when we played or wrestled as he was very strong. I'd still get a bit roughed up from him-scratches. When he had his peaceful moments, it was very lovely as he'd groom up and down my arm and hand by nibbling like he was eating corn on the cob. He wouldn't let me pull away when I'd had enough.Thx for asking!

You get a pet raccoon from a breeder or specialty pet store. You have to get licensing by the state you live in. I'll tell you a little more...don't plan on doing any travel if you have a raccoon. If you have a full-time job, that is a big challenge as raccoons need a lot of attention. It's not like having a cat or dog where they can be left alone for extended periods of time. I spent hours each day actively interacting with Shelby

I am so so sorry for your loss. I know how bad it hurts. I hope you get yourself another baby coonie. They are so addicting!

@hardamber Thank you for your understanding. I know what you mean, but Shelby is irreplaceable. I do not have any plans on having another raccoon in my life. Maybe, a long time from now, I'll look into being a rehabilitator. That way, I'll have the joy of their companionship, I'll be able to help them and then I'll be able to let them go to be free. I like to think that maybe that's what part of what it was to know and love Shelby and to have him in my life was for-to help others of his kind...
