This is the FIRST masking signature tutorial in Gimp created! I wrote up the original featuring screenshots in my blog and now I finally created a video tutorial for you all! I hope you enjoy it! This is fine for beginners to experts, it's a great technique that everybody should have down.

First you will need masking brushes. Search for large mask brushes. You can use photoshop brushes in the Gimp as well.
I find all of mine off of Deviant art. Here are two sets that I recommend you download;

Also you'll need some textures. It's optional, but I suggest you learn the technique of using textures sooner or later.

And of course there is Deviantart. Just search textures.

Make sure that you merge all layers before pasting in your pic. See if that works.

(this doesnt involve this vid) but when i paste a pic onto a background i already mad, the pic shows up behind the background.

@boomboxshoebox - I have a question for you. Do you know how to colorise pictures using GIMP ?.. I've been trying to understand through tutorials on the net but don't seem to get it.
