This is a clip of two teenagers (as we say in American English) dancing the Hutsulka at a wedding in the village of Kosmach, Ivano-Frankivsk state, in western Ukraine.
Compare the way they day dance Hutsulka to the way the Hutsulka was danced in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQmbmxTr3xI
The major difference is that, but for one older man, none of the men at this wedding in Kosmach did the foot-stamping and other footwork that the fellows did in the above clip while dancing the Hutsulka. This doesn't necessarily mean that such dancing isn't done in Kosmach in general!
Hutsulka is also referred to as "kolomyjka," but according to one fellow, Mykola Savchuk, the name "hutsulka" is the name that most Hutsuls use for this dance today. This is borne out by my recent experience--though I certainly covered a very, very tiny portion of Hutsulshchyna, everyone I talked with referred to the dance as hutsulka. . .
Very nice video.
