I made one of these last month and it works great. Jody at weldingtipsandtricks does a modification of this by welding the bar of a slide hammer to the back of the grip, so it's more in line with the jaws. He feels you get a better straight line pull with that. But the disadvantage of his method is that the tool can't be easily stored in a toolbox, and it can never be screwed apart to use components for other jobs. I like the way you did it because of better versatility.

could U of used the puller with that U type of cv joint puller that attaches? is there room to swing the hammer (for a straight pull) if U used a cv joint puller?
