The Concert For Bangladesh was the event title for two benefit concerts organized by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, held at noon and at 7:00 p.m. on August 1, 1971, playing to a total of 40,000 people at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Organized for the relief of refugees in East Pakistan, the event was the first benefit concert of this magnitude in world history. It featured an all-star supergroup of performers that included Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston and Leon Russell.

An album was released later in 1971 and a concert film was released in 1972

Rubbish. The leaders of the Bengali independence movement were Muslims as well as Hindus. Hindus were targeted more often but not exclusively.

  • @amcycletrans Charles Bronson is a dude and a half.

  • @Vasco1701 mann.... do u know about the language movement ' basha andolan'...... bangladesh was a result of oppresion... the pakistan govt. holded bangldesh for its stragic location.. and spent perhaps no money on them.. taxes were heavy.. and that money went to defense bujget...if are not a bengalii.. then please do read some books before commenting.. and if you are... gandu choda ja na oi mero r baccha na hole bal thakarey r bal chosa na hole paijiii mal or delhi harami ho na..

  • Don't forget,India was instrumental in the liberation of Bangladesh.Without India there was no Bangladesh and without the great Ravi Shankar who loved India when it was united with pakistan, this song would not have existed.
