Although Mayo & Xiao have been performing songs almost all of their lives, here is a sample of one of their EARLY performances as Mayo2Mykel (M2M), an early moniker that the duo adapted before they finally ended up with the name "THE DENNIS ROLDAN PROJECT" - which actually began to be known and officially accepted by January 2006 at a very special performance at Tarlac First Baptist Church's "MUSIKABATAAN", which happened at The Diwa ng Tarlak in Tarlac City. :)
The early concept of DRP was, as long as Mayo & Xiao, OR Mayo or Xiao are in the group/lineup, it doesn't matter who they are with (basta andodoon yung isa, sila na yung THE DENNIS ROLDAN PROJECT). In fact, there was a time back in 2006 where Mayo was accompanied by his film friends, back in his film school days, and there they performed at a certain bar in Katipunan (which was a very unplanned performance), going by the name of THE DENNIS ROLDAN PROJECT (it was Mayo on vocals and guitars, Javier Abola on lead guitars, Marie La Vina on back up vocals, and John Ocier on guitar/percussion). WOW, just imagine that!:)
The original spirit of DRP is simply about SPONTANEITY and hardcore ROCK N' ROLL ATTITUDE, which involves all heart, with little practice yet pure rakenrol talent and whatnot. Simply put: uncharted, unexplored and very dangerous/risky type of performance that would bring out the VERY BEST in each member of the group - parang mag-eexam ka sa school na "stocked knowledge" lang ang dala ng utak mo - hahaha! :) However, as time passed by, DRP became exclusive again, involving only Mayo & Xiao in the entire lineup of the group.
And so, there you go. ;) DRP FOREVER!!! \m/,

M2M (Maio 2 Mykel) Live At St. Matthew Square
Ligaya ng Kaligtasan+Kalinga
We Can Work It Out (Lennon/McCartney)
As part of the celebration for Intramurals and High School Day of our former school St. Matthew Christian Academy, Mayo and I were invited to perform there on the night of 18 October 2002. The only live thing here was the vocals. Music was played through the karaoke and Mayo, his brothers Joben and Judge with their barkada pretended to be playing the music. I did my Gospel number and Mayo and I sang We Can Work It Out.
Notes on Kalinga + Ligaya ng Kaligtasan
It was planned long before to record a Christian ballad in the style of Siakol, a hard rock, tunog kanto band in the Philippines, while having a jam in our house in the late 2001. It was a funny idea, but we thought of it still. So we chose Kalinga, a Tagalog love song for our sweet Jesus.
In the morning of 23 May 2002, Mayo made the preliminary track without the vocals (guitars, bass and drum machine). I arrived in the afternoon and I listened to it. He accidentally made a slight error. He had Kalinga for the stanzas and Ligaya ng Kaligtasan, another Christian ballad, for the chorus!!! It was a blessing in disguise though. The chorus of Ligaya was much more beautiful and dramatic than the one in Kalinga. So we decided to give it a go. So in the afternoon, I sang the vocals and Mayo played the tambourine as we recorded the rock medley Kalinga + Ligaya ng Kaligtasan. It was tedious for Mayo doin the tambourine and for my throat to sing and shout like that. We used to say that we made this hard version of a Christian song to reach as many young people as possible.
