if your going to have your hermit crabs in the 'fancy shells' at least buy them in their natural shell and wait for them to change over to the painted shell.

when i got one i picked it up and i pinched me and wouldn't come off and the pet store guys had to get him off of me also i have a spongebob shell lol

Your "fancy shells" are CRAB KILLERS. They are FORCED into those shells BY HAND. The paint is toxic and the crabs will eat them. Its okay to buy a painted crab as a rescue, but do not buy painted spare shells!!! If you don't believe me look into it!
