As the title says ... Attempts to catch the wave at Rocky Island, a bit down from Great Falls. The current is pretty fast but the waves are steep, so the kayak has to be at just the proper angle or it broaches and turns downriver. To keep it at that angle apparently requires reaction and balance a bit above my current level but that's where the fun is - to learn from the mistakes that are plainly obvious when reviewing the video... The top wave is the best for surfing in a long boat, because it is a bit more stable than the waves below it. The lower waves are just as tall but narrower and also reform and change in both direction and size all the time (so even when I catch the lower waves, it can't last long).
