The man who led south metro police on a high-speed chase Saturday before crashing into a Lakeville police car was Tasered twice before being taken into custody, according to a criminal complaint.
Christopher Martin Simondet, 26, was charged yesterday in Dakota County District Court with felonies for fleeing a police officer and criminal vehicular injury.
According to the Dakota County District Court complaint, Simondet led Apple Valley and Lakeville police in a pursuit on Cedar Avenue after fleeing an accident in Bloomington.
At 202nd Street in Lakeville Simondet drove up on the curb where he collided with a fully marked Lakeville squad car parked in the median.
Simondet was ordered several times to exit the vehicle but did not comply. He swung his arm at an officer who tried to remove him. Simondet was Tasered twice before additional officers arrived and were able to pull him from the front passenger door.
As a result of the impact, the Lakeville officer in the car suffered a fractured tibia and his canine partner received a laceration to its tongue.
