Put a sock in it

In an effort to quite down my pool table the sock method is actually incredible! To tamper down the hard shots hitting the back of the pockets I also put 5 round rubber stickers onto the inside of each pocket - bought them at a dollar store.

It's a fact that the phrase "put a sock in it" actually comes from someone two hundred years ago wanting to play pool at home late at night on his living room pool table - he figured out that by putting a sock at the bottom of each drop pocket it made it so that the others in the house would not be as disturbed by the noise - essentially eliminating all the noise except for the actual "clank" of the billiards balls colliding..

Don't quote me on any of that haha :)
