Well, Actually, Samanosuke wasnt hiding while Jubei was fighting Nobunaga. Samanosuke was holding off the larger genma forces like you see in Onimusha 3

he hides away in onimusha 2 as jubei attempts to kill nobunaga but as he doesnt posses a oni gaunlet cannot defeat him but weaken him then he comes back in 3 looking the same age yet allot older.
