Former Rwandan Ambassador to the United States Theogene Rudasingwa observes that the ruling party of President Kagame, the Rwandan Patriotic Front, is exhibiting behaviors characteristic of previous regimes that led to the genocide 17 years ago. "You can see the signals, the stress signals, that existed before 1994, you can see them in Rwanda today," said Rudasingwa.

Rwandan president Paul Kagame has emerged as perhaps the most enigmatic and controversial figure in Africa. Is he the principled leader of "one of the safest and most orderly countries in Africa" (as one journalist put it), the man who calmly rebuilt Rwanda following one of the worst episodes of mass killing in the modern era? Or is he the primary architect of a brutal dictatorship, himself implicated in scores of serious human rights abuses, including crimes against humanity and genocide? Please join us for "Revising Paul Kagame: Myth and Reality After the Genocide in Rwanda." Our distinguished panelists will examine the image of Kagame that has been created in the media—and in the popular imagination—and how that image contrasts with reality. - Open Society Foundations
Theogene Rudasingwa has served as chief of staff for the Office of the President of the Republic of Rwanda (2000-04) and as Rwandan Ambassador to the United States (1996-1999). He is the Founder, President, and CEO of Haradali.org.
for this former Colonel in Kagame's Army to say that there are signals now similar to those existed before the genocide of Rwanda in 1994, is politically naive and wrong: 1- before genocide, Rwanda was in the hands of small group of Hutu extremists, now Rwanda is in the hands of many pragmatic Hutu. 2-Tutsi who existed in Rwanda before genocide were civilians, and were killed, but now Tutsi in Rwanda are military oriented one's. 3-Rwandan population before genocide had never been in war, not now

Kagame will go down in the history of Africa, and Rwanda in particular, as one The founding father or model of what can be done in Africa. He's the first Army General President to declare a war against corruption, and most importantly, to tell Army guys that they belong to barracks. Kagame surprised his own party members who thought that grass will be indeed green on the other side. Now they are turning tables over against him. The unprecedented social aspect that Kagame created is Institutions

For Rwanda though, many people will of migrane. Rwanda is rebuilt and protected by people. All the transformation happening in Rwanda doesn't come from the pocket of Kagame, but a good governance. We have people capable of stopping genocide, rebuild the country, guarantee national security as well as food security. all other people outside bragging about blah blah blah don't actually exist. they can talk the talk but can never walk the walk

Without free markets and individual liberty the whole of Africa will remain in an economic stone age.
Prosperity doesn't come from a president, it comes from people acting in their own self interest and freely trading with others.

Well this is interesting.
I was wondering when the political left and the Soros backed OSI will start demonizing Rwanda & Botswana, the only African nations that are emerging from poverty due to privatization and introduction of free markets.
It just shows how truly sinister these people are, that they see Africa's permanent state of poverty & desperation as an essential component to their global ambitions.
Anything released by OSI should be studied carefully as there is always a hidden agenda.
