Written and directed by Artistic Director, Tim Robbins, Break The Whip tells the compelling story of the Jamestown Colony, 1609-1623. Here at Jamestown three distinct cultures- the Paspahegh Indians, the English settlers, and the West African slaves- struggle to persist. The fierce clash of forces thunders upon the stage at The Actors' Gang, with an array of music, dance, shadow puppetry and humor. Performed by The Gang's sizable ensemble in three languages, Break The Whip unmoors us from the dock of our old perceptions, navigating us through an epic story of love, survival and the birth of a new freedom.
Ovation Recommended, the show will run monthly Feb.- April, 2011. Tickets 15-25$, Limited Pay-What-You-Can seating available for all shows, Check website for details. www.theactorsgang.com 310-838 GANG (4264)
