  • It's so bad to be underrated. Long live Paddy, best lyricist ever.

  • i think thomas dolby must take a lot of credit for this genius album...the production and sound effects are incredible. (as well as the writing and lead vocals etc)...

  • Oh damn I was hoping to hear some Faron Young lol

  • @johnwaynewasafaggot it depends on the point of reference. if you're talking about major labels and mainstream sound it was pretty lame. but in terms of small labels and underground sound it was explosive. the 80's is the continuation of a great journey that started in the late 60's/early 70's with krautrock and first attempts of "commercial" electronic music and lasted until the first years of 00's with techno. always in terms of creativity and experimentation and not genre specific. now we w8.

  • @uclrichard No...he's not the "best" lyricist ever...especially when paired up against the likes of Cohen...but he did write some very meaningful, insightful, and poetic pieces, in a time (the 80's) when most of the trash coming out of America and Europe was...well...trash.

  • maybe the 80's didn't suck as much after all.

  • Oh god, those endless eighties summer nights, i bloody loved that decade, fun, sun, drink, drugs, girls, money, cars, travel, opportunity there for the taking if you really really wanted it, get up off your arse decade, borrow to the hilt, live, love, and everything else inbetween, oh sure it was so shallow, selfish, pointless and damn right wrong................................but god it was fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @uclrichard Amen Brother.

  • @Unjamestaylorable to be fair, he's not the best lyricist ever, nor would he claim to be...bob dylan, cohen, reed, bowie, simon, morrissey, stipe, etc....? but 'steve mcqueen' is a superb album - one of the very best made in england in the 80s - or since.

  • this is definitely one of my top 10 songs from the fabulous 80's!!!
