A short clip I recorded showing various aspects of GNOME 3.

Sorry the recording is pretty poor in quality, the recording software makes it glichy and laggy in various areas. Better then the last one I used though.

  • @orasis What a highly informative and intellectual conclusion you came up with there.

Did you make this comment because you were to stupid to figure out how to install GNOME 3?

  • It seemed that Gnome-Shell isn't running smooth enough

  • @shuhen2011 It runs very smoothly, most of the time. That's just the recording software as the description says. I have some occasional problems with Xorg, though.

  • Unity better

  • its like mission control but fixed. mission control app bundles don't work

  • What recording software are you using?

  • @4animedotme its actually quite easy to install gnome, must be a new dimension of stupid

  • @archlinuxrussian Give them time and you will see it will be super easy to tweak Gnome 3. Have to remember, this is just been released this year. As far as icons beng to big, there is a way to make them smaller, I dont remember how, but I know there is a way.

  • @4animedotme Gnome 3 suck dude, no one uses it. It is just.. way, way too different/graphic for me.

That's my main problem with Gnome 3, the "jack of all trades" method. They (Gnome 3) attempted to create a desktop and tablet capable OS and ended up making both mediocre.

What they should have done is split Gnome 3 into two separate projects - GNOME PAD (Whatever), and Gnome 3d (Whatever) for desktop.

Now I understand that Gnome doesn't have the same financial abilities as Apple, but this whole thing was a bad design decision.

It sort of is through fall back mode. Rid yourself of 'gnome-shell' and you will find yourself in fall back mode which is Gnome-2'ish.

I have Xmonad and Gnome 2 now, I reinstalled it from an old source that I backed up just in case Gnome 3 was POS.
