Part of the series: Otis Legacy Project: Interviews of Distinguished Otis Alumni. Tyrus Wong attended Otis in 1935. He became a famous artist working for the film industry. One of his most famous jobs was to paint the backgrounds for Bambi. He enjoys flying kites in his retirement. Tyrus was interviewed by Otis students in November 2007. This is an excerpt from the longer video available in the Otis Millard Sheets Library.

  • Somebody interview this man again. PLEASE. He's a 100 years old now!

  • I wanna be just like him! He is such an inspiration! And he's from the hometown that my great grandfather is from! Guangzhou!

  • What a happy man. This probably comes about by doing something that you love to do all your life and earning your living at it!

  • I got to sit down a talk a spell with Mr Wong last year. The guy is still sharp as a tack and a friendly well of information. Great insights to making art, concept/production and farnkly the guys' painting and drawing are spectacular! Thanks for the interview!!
