The families of Blair Holt, Anthony Marquez, Starkesha Reed, Percy Day, Tyrone Williams, Matthew Ramirez, Terell Bosley, and Anthony Padron speak out about the violence. All young people killed by Gun Violence in the City of Chicago.
@MasSergioVEVO I am a forensic psychologist. I have been working in and with the system for yrs. The states are always looking to reduce the numbers because that's the best way to reduce costs. Some states lease space to other states etc so it's easy to think money is being made somewhere but it's not. They are just trying to reduce losses. My home state only incarcerates an overnight average of about 25,000 (less than 1/2 national average) and we are well over 100 million in the hole yearly
where'd you get those statistics from? lol? ah anyways ill just take ur word for it i guess im wrong but i was sort of hitting the nail on the head cuz i know someone profits. its corporate america(the providers of services for prisoners) who profits then not the state. I thuoght it was both state and corporations but maybe i was wrong about the state profiting thanks for helping me figgure it out. ;)
@MasSergioVEVO It costs $40 to $85 a day($1,200 to $2,500 mo) to lock someone up depending on the state. Then probation costs after they get out. Some states charge for that but none even break even. The state I work in we quit charging for probation because it costs more to try to collect than they could collect.
@MasSergioVEVO lol Noooo, The state has no motivation whatsoever to lock people up. It costs way more to incarcerate than they get out of fees & fines. It actually even costs more to collect the fines than they get out of them.Work programs lose money even. That is why they are being dropped. It costs more to run them than they produce. The only ones making money are a few businesses taking advantage of the opportunity & thats only phone, commissary, clothing, sandals & Furgison smocks.
@shananagans5 they never used to take money from ur accnt before thats something new they were doing a few years ago there definately is great monetary gain by sticking people in jail ontop of the legal fees the state also collects on so much other stuff u said it urself. see its big business cuz now they have more clients(convicts) to provide "service"(rip offs for basic phone service personal accounts etc) for. its big business bro trust me state & corporations r all capatalizing
@shananagans5 well i was arrrested one time when i got jumped (falsely accused) then i was later let off and had all charges dropped and in jail i learned from other prisoners stating that each day they take money from you.. they do indeed get more money if into ur prisoner account money gets put in they get a certain amount (i remember it was alot like $3-$5 per day). Those accounts are for buying merchandise in jail like instant foods coffe etc. often these are traded for drugs.
@MasSergioVEVO Well, there are some businesses that make money off the system but the system overall is a giant black hole sucking money into oblivion. The fees, fines etc don't even come close to paying the expenses. There is no money motive for the state to lock people up. Not to mention spending on the prison system is very unpopular politically. There just isn't any financial motivation to imprison people. I don't understand at all how people think there is.
@shananagans5 every day that u spend in stockaide/jail/prison etc as well gets the govt more$ also prisoners often have family donate money into a special "bank account" like system wich then deducts a certain monetary amount per day or month(more capitalisim) also each day they are in there money donations or not the more money they make off of them... whether or not anybody puts money into their jail/prison accounts. Capatalisim is more important than our lives to this govt, its nerve racking!
@shananagans5 agreed these laws are empowering killers to come out and are set up to help us the law biding citizens as slowly as possible... what they also don't want you to know is that crime is a big business. Criminals go in but are allowed to come back out (this is were it becomes busines for the state) on bond bail probation sor(supervised release) all of wich costs money... plus court costs, fees, attrny costs.. think abt it.. its big business to let these ppl keep fucking up! &its WRONG!

@MasSergioVEVO Yea, the phones & accounts are a rip off. There is extra security required etc but that stuff is way overpriced.
